Student Group Clash Erupts at Pune’s Wadia College
A fight broke out between two major student political groups, the Maharashtra Navnirman Vidyarthi Sena (MNVS) and the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), at Wadia College in Pune. This incident has created new tensions within the city’s student political scene.
The conflict started when posters were found around the college urging students to ‘Boycott MNVS’. Members of the ABVP are believed to have put up these critical posters.

In a quick reaction, activists from the MNVS allegedly went to the ABVP office on campus, forced their way in, and locked the office from the outside.
Shortly after, ABVP members returned, broke the lock, and began a loud protest outside their office. This rapid escalation quickly became a major topic of discussion across Pune’s educational community.
Both groups took the issue to the local police. Aditya Dumbre Patil, a coordinator for ABVP Pune, strongly spoke out against the MNVS’s actions. He called the incident a “political stunt” meant to gain attention before upcoming local elections, stating that such aggressive behaviour from one student group is not acceptable.
On the other side, Dhanajay Dalavi, the City President of MNVS, reported that his group had gone to the Koregaon Park police station to report the situation but felt they did not receive justice. He complained that instead of looking into their report, police were now filing cases against MNVS members.
This clash highlights the rising rivalry between student organizations in Pune, showing how political competition sometimes moves beyond the classroom and requires official attention.
