CCTV Catches Thief Snatching Gold Chain in Pune; Politician Supriya Sule Slams Police
A disturbing incident of gold chain snatching was recorded on a security camera at a grocery store in the Warje area of Pune, leading to serious concerns about public safety in the city.

The incident took place around 10:00 PM on October 10. The CCTV footage, which has since been widely shared, shows a man entering the shop where two women were present. The thief, wearing a cap and a mask, asked one of the women for a packet of milk. While pretending to take money out of his wallet, he suddenly grabbed the gold chain worn by one of the women and quickly ran away. Although both women tried to chase him, they were unable to catch the thief.

The video was posted on social media by Supriya Sule, the Working President of the NCP-SP and Member of Parliament for Baramati. She used the opportunity to strongly criticize the rising crime rate in Pune.
On X (formerly Twitter), Ms. Sule stated that the video shows another example of how criminals are able to commit crimes freely. She called the situation “very unfortunate and disappointing” for a major city like Pune. She also made a formal request to the Pune Police Commissioner to take the incident seriously. Ms. Sule demanded that the police must quickly find and punish those who commit such acts to ensure that the city’s residents feel safe. This incident puts more pressure on the local police to improve security measures across the city.
